Who we are

We are a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) based in Brussels, founded in 1992 on the initiative of banking institutions with the aim of establishing a stable presence in monitoring European Union policies and programmes.

We operate as a point of connection between European institutions, the banking system, and local territories, combining institutional vision with operational expertise.

Today, CBE brings together 11 associated members from four European countries, including banks and Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, contributing to a broad network of SMEs, companies, and economic actors across Europe.

Our presence in Brussels is not only geographical: it represents a commitment to continuity, responsibility, and method.

Our history

Coopération Bancaire pour l’Europe – EEIG was founded in Brussels in 1992 with the ambition of ensuring a stable presence at the heart of the European Union, capable of understanding its evolution and translating EU policies into concrete opportunities for its members.
1992
In the years following its foundation, CBE consolidated its role as an interface between the European institutions and the associated banking system. Its presence in Brussels translates into listening, monitoring, and building relationships. Europe is observed with method, interpreted with rigor, and communicated with responsibility. In this phase, an identity trait takes shape that will remain constant: attention to the quality of relationships and consistency in action.
1992–2005
As European programmes evolve, the activity gradually expands. Alongside institutional information, a more structured support on European Union funding is developed. The focus shifts from the mere reading of policies to their concrete implementation, while always maintaining a prudent and sustainable approach consistent with the nature of an EEIG. The ability to interpret the European context translates into operational expertise.
2005–2015
CBE strengthens its participation in European programmes, becoming more consistently involved in international partnerships. The structure gradually consolidates technical expertise in project writing and management, integrating institutional vision with operational capacity. Limited size and increasing responsibility coexist in balance. Quality prevails over quantity; solidity over speed.
2015–2021
In recent years, CBE has consolidated a phase of full operational maturity. Its presence in Brussels is accompanied by increasing internal structuring, rigorous management of project activities, and constant attention to organizational sustainability. The approach remains faithful to the founding principles: continuity, responsibility, and long-term relationships. At the same time, the structure refines its methods and processes, strengthening its role in European consortia and international networks. Today, CBE operates as a lean and specialized organization, capable of integrating technical expertise and European vision, institutional presence and concrete operational capacity. Since 1992 in Brussels. With consistency, method, and responsibility.
